I understand that she needs to demonstrate the moves by having the “girls” going through the motions and her stand over them talking about proper form, but that doesn’t mean she can’t do the entire second part of the workout. I hate her for not doing the actual physical workout. Why, as the set and styling designers, wouldn’t you immediately stop filming and wash her feet? And, if her feet are stained that color, why wouldn’t they put socks on her, since she is pretty much teaching the video. But when we got to the cool-down, there were her feet-brown and dirty as can be-staring at me on the big ole flat screen TV. I didn’t talk pretty much through the entire video, it was that tough. At the beginning with the warm up, I thought she was going to just be wussy, but she did mega moves that get you sweating. She made me sweat as much in this workout as she did in her other videos. ![]() Jillian’s circuit training gets your heart pumping, muscles burning and sweat dripping. I love how she does circuit training and that she has different levels of intensity. She also did lunge moves and then hold the deep lunge pose, and half-moon poses and hold on one arm. She makes you hold a push-up position close to the floor, and I am telling you I have never felt my deltoid muscle, the upper arm-not-quite-shoulder area, before in my life. She does normal yoga poses, but makes you do them as power poses. You can tell with the huge success of Biggest Loser that she has put in more workouts to tone herself up, because her abs and arms are extraordinarily muscular. She also has gone through a body makeover. The cover of the Shred video is a manly Jillian, and she definitely got a new stylist, because she is beautiful on the covers. And is it just me or has she gone through a transformation looks wise. You love working out with her, but you hate how she kicks your butt. I love Jillian Michaels as much as I hate her. That is a serious declaration for a yoga workout. The front of the video claims to help me lose up to five pounds a week. If you're a fan you'll definitely like this, but if you're new to yoga itself, get some reading done before you get into the more elaborate stuff.Okay, I admit going into the Yoga Meltdown workout video leery of what to expect from her. Final Thoughts:Īll in all, while I wasn't entirely sure what to expect from Yoga Meltdown, I knew that Michaels would make the work worthwhile, and she does that. Michaels includes brief looks at two other video releases ( 30 Day Shred, Banish Fat Metabolism and No More Trouble Zones), in case you like what she brings to the table here. No subwoofer, no rear surround activity (and barely replicating from the front channels), it's unspectacular and sounds okay. Two-channel Dolby stereo, which for an exercise disc is about right. But it looks fine and is without any noticeable picture issues. The Disc:įull frame viewing which, in 2010 is a little bit disappointing, considering that both the time and the person involved would dictate a little higher production value. Goodness knows I didn't understand what the hubbub was over her before, but I do know, and it's a good thing. That's likely the biggest reason why Jillian Michaels may be so popular, in that she gently gives you the confidence needed to do these exercises, and you quietly achieve a much bigger result than you'd expect. Michaels' instructions during the exercises are clear and easy to follow, and compared to what I understood about her on the Biggest Loser show, he exhibits some of that extroverted personality on Yoga Meltdown without being the stereotypical upbeat fitness instructor that would normally grate the nerves. ![]() ![]() But Michaels seems to find a balance between the tranquil nature of the art and uses the physical poses as a gateway to incorporating her exercise techniques, and that's not a bad thing if you're looking for it.įor instance, I did a round at both the first and second levels on separate occasions, and definitely felt the proverbial burn afterwards. Maybe I'm wrong, and I could be, because I'm not used to forms of.what do you call it? Moving. I'd always considered yoga, along with tai chi, to be a more easy going and calm exercise, designed to meditate and enlighten the mind, with the body enjoying the fruits of it. Each level includes two participants with Michaels, each designed to show what to do at the "beginner" and "advanced" levels. The exercises themselves are within the levels of similar exercise videos two levels depending on preference and comfort, each lasting a little more than 30 minutes apiece. For those who are unfamiliar with yoga (like I am), there is a bit of a learning curve in the slang and positions within yoga, but nothing that you can't pick up in moments. That brings us to Yoga Meltdown, the latest in an ongoing stream of releases from Michaels which combines muscle burning exercise with Yoga, one of Michaels' personal preferences.
